Additional Information

The design of Stoneview House draws reference from the neighbouring post war buildings of Goldsmiths Close. The detailed articulation of the facade and its detailing is contemporary in nature. However, the buildings footprint, height and material palette draws specific reference from the surrounding context. The 3No gabled elevations respect the corner plot location of the building, its relationship and contribution to Goldsmiths Close and the unique views available across Acton Park. Once inside the building, the apartments are generous in size and offer numerous ways to interact with the view whilst protecting the occupants privacy. French door juliet balconies, Bi-folding door juliet balconies, large casement windows as well as fixed pane triangulated glass panes offer direct interactions and oblique visual connections to the landscaping both within the site boundary and beyond.

Mark Watson Architects worked with 2No clients on the development of this scheme. First, achieving planning permission for 3No modestly sized units over 2No floors before revising the scheme for a second client, gaining approval for 3No apartments; 2No of which are duplex units, over 3No floors. The scheme was developed through feasibility, concept design, planning, technical and detailed design, tender, contract signing and managed onsite with MWA acting as Contract Administrators.
